Title: Junket
Location: Manchester
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” (Wheatley, 2009, p.55)
Junket is a co-operative organisation based on the values of empowerment, education and community providing nutritious meals from a combination of food waste interception and sustainable urban farming methods. The informing concept utilises the symbiotic relationship between place, community and consumption; “the aesthetic of hana is one of the symbiosis of heterogeneous elements, of disparate moods or feelings.” (Kurokawa, 1994)
The project will feature juxtaposing ideas, forms and objects, introducing the aesthetics of symbiosis into the interior and composition of the space. It will explore the symbiotic relationships between contrasting design ideas as well as the people that inhabit the space.
